Journey through the past
The spatial experience I can hardly find elsewhere
is the journey through the shop house. Before entering the shop house the
entrance starts at the five foot walkway. When I enter the shop house the first
expression I had is that it is enclosed and I felt I am entering into someone
else territory. But when I go around to the backyard, the threshold changed. It
is more welcoming in the open area. Other than that, the building behind is
permeable at the ground floor which gives it a sense of direction to the back.
During the past the back of the shop house in Kuala Terengganu had stilt houses
which are a public space where everyone can walk through and experience the
whole stilt houses as one. But now the development had change where the stilt
houses are deconstructed and I found a dead end at the road.
I found out that the journey of the shop houses have
many stages of threshold. Frist from a more enclosed private space – Second to
a more public open space – Third to a semi private space – Lastly to a public
space again. I experienced many condition with unfamiliar rules and values when
entering into each of these stages. The journey was exciting how I imagine if
the historical part of the stilt houses is maintain

I crafted a modal of blocks which represents
building and i try to build it in four directions. This modal has 2D from the
front but we won’t know unless we experience it in the 3D which is inside the
modal which we can feel it around us. The rhythmic form of block is endless
towards what we craft maybe unless until we stopped and say it is finish.
Crafts reflect our creativity, experience and skills as an architect over a
decade. We tries to craft other architecture work that we like in our own way
whom has crafted their skill and experience their entire life.
